I am an RN and have who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I am Aspartame free since 6-97. So far so good! But I have a nurse friend that has been diagnosed with Meniere’s Disease and am wondering about that and Aspartame. She is on a very restricted Sodium diet and is better. But, mentioned the Aspartame and she notices that when she drinks diet Pepsi, her Meniere’s flares real badly. She thought maybe it was the caffeine.
But I am wondering about the Aspartame.
Update
I don’t know if you remember, but I contacted you about the possibility of a connection between Aspartame and Meniere’s disease. My friend gave up her diet Pepsi and has not needed to take her diuretic except 3 times in one month. She was taking them daily to reduce the dizziness. She hasn’t needed it. She said she really wasn’t keeping track, but suddenly realized that she did have a decrease in symptoms.
I am now known as the NutraSweet police, but I have given your info to everybody, including several physicians. I have not noticed much change in my fibromyalgia symptoms, but sometimes you don’t know how good you feel until you feel awful again. I have had some sort of virus, we think.
Jokingly we have decided that it is Aspartame withdrawal. I will tell you that on reflection, I had a seizure disorder and the worst seizures were when I worked 11 PM-7AM shift and lived on diet pop for caffeine.
Two years ago, I had an EEG and No seizure activity was present! Imagine that.
Please forgive me for going on so long. I want to say THANK YOU!! And please continue your work.
