We’re always told that the “placebo-controlled” study is the gold standard in research. And who can argue with the results of such a “fair” test? The placebo is just an innocent “sugar pill” — right? But for some time now I’ve been talking about what these ‘sugar’ pills really contain. (Hint — it’s not sugar.) Now, I’ve made a shocking discovery, an eye-opener about dirty secrets and industry lies.
It confirms what I’ve said many times about the placebo trick. They are specially designed for every single trial that uses them. So by creating the right placebo, you can create a very different outcome. And that’s why mainstream medicine’s insistence that placebo-controlled studies are proof positive of a result is a complete myth.
Those placebos are a ‘chamber of secrets’ that are rarely revealed. But finally, some of those secrets are being exposed. And that’s thanks to an activist who had the guts to stand up and ask the $64,000 question. Jack Samuels was a very brave and smart man. He was also so sensitive to MSG that the smallest amount could send him into shock. It was his acute sensitivity that started his decades-long investigation into MSG — and the industry that makes and promotes it. Along with his wife, Adrienne, a research specialist with a Ph.D., they learned more about the dirty tricks that are played on us by industry than anyone could possibly want to know.
And the Samuels knew there was “something more” going on when study after study done by industry reported that just as many people had bad effects from the placebo pill as they did from MSG. They knew that “couldn’t be true.” Unless, Jack wondered, they were doing the “unthinkable” and lacing the placebo with something that would cause the same bad reactions.
So during a meeting called by the FDA, Jack had his chance. He knew that a big shot with the MSG industry would be there, a man by the name of Andrew Ebert. He was in charge of the group that had funded all those expensive studies saying MSG is safe. And Jack stood up in front of that large audience and told them that something isn’t right. He questioned what was in all those placebo pills that were making everyone as sick as if they were eating MSG. And you won’t believe what happened next.
That industry bigwig I told you about in the audience, well, he was furious. He demanded to talk too, and he made such a stink that experts at the meeting took notice. One of them, a senior staff scientist, dashed off a letter asking Ebert to disclose what, exactly, were in those placebos used in all those MSG studies.
Now Jack didn’t learn about that letter — and Ebert’s response — until several years later. And when he did find out, well, it was one of the most shocking things he had ever uncovered. Ebert admitted — in writing — that a drug that can cause the exact same reactions as MSG was being used in those placebos. And they had been using that drug in their placebo pills since 1978!
Now you would think that would be enough to make all of those studies invalid. That’s what Jack thought. And he brought that letter to the attention of the FDA as soon as he found out. And what the FDA did was…nothing. So just what was that drug the MSG industry was using in its “placebo” pills? It’s none other than aspartame. That fake sweetener used in diet foods that can give you the headaches, heart reactions, and brain problems…all the same things that MSG causes.
Of course the food and drug industries probably won’t be telling us about their other placebo ‘recipes’ any time soon, But know this…even when something is “safe as placebo,” you could be in for a world of hurt.
