Now I have a little question. Until recently (2 weeks ago) I’ve been able to consume foods with NutraSweet (like chewing gum, an occasional soda, and puddings) with no apparent problems. Two weeks ago I popped a piece of Trident sugarless gum into my mouth and about a half-hour later began to get my aura, signaling a migraine attack. Got that under control with no problem and didn’t make the connection to the NutraSweet until several days later when I had a sugar-free soda. Same thing happened to me. About a half-hour later I began experiencing aura. I keep a food diary because so many foods seem to set me off, so I got suspicious and looked at it. I’m wondering if NutraSweet is now a trigger for me. My questions are: Is it common to suddenly develop an allergy (if that’s indeed what it is) to something that hasn’t previously been a problem, especially when it’s only ever been consumed occasionally, and in small quantities? Could this just be coincidence? Has anyone else had problems with NutraSweet?
