Anyway, the increase in my migraines began about a year ago-about at the time when my Aspartame consumption increased. I thought of it as a possible trigger but lived in denial that it could be because it was such a great substitute for sugar, and as an athlete I was constantly watching my weight. Anyway, after having very little help from doctors and becoming very, very ill while at University, I decided to try to find a solution myself. I was being greatly affected and had about 2-3 bad migraines a week. Something that was becoming impossible to deal with and be at University at the same time.
Thanks to this news group and a friend, I became aware that Aspartame could be a trigger for me, and decided to eliminate it from my diet. I am very pleased to say that for the last 2 months or so, my migraine frequency drastically reduced from 2-3 migraines a week, to 2-3 a month.
Some of you may be thinking that it was due to stress, but they began decreasing shortly before finals, and continued to do so during finals, and even now when I am taking very difficult courses.
I just wanted to let people know that Aspartame is powerful and can affect your life. Be careful and don’t be too quick to eliminate it as a possible migraine trigger.
