I was drinking about 32 ounces of caffeine free Diet Coke every night, (during and after dinner). Some of the symptoms that I had were as follows:
Frequency of urination through the night, (5 to 7 incidents each night). I saw my physician about this problem. He thought that I may have either a prostrate problem and or a thyroid problem. All tests were negative. He also sent me to an eye specialist because my eyes were not tearing enough.
The eye specialist had me use over the counter eye drops 4 times a day.
- Frequent headaches
- Anxiety and panic attacks through the night
- Muscle cramps in my fingers and toes
- Difficulty remembering things
- Insomnia. (The doctor prescribed a mild sleeping pill, which I refused.)
These symptoms disappeared immediately when I stopped using Aspartame.
Also, I had been off of Aspartame for about 2 weeks when one night I had a mild anxiety attack through the night. I then remembered that I had chewed quite a bit of Freedent gum the previous day and evening. I checked the package and found that this product contains Aspartame and phenylalanine as well as sugar. I had never suspected this, as Freedent is not a sugarless gum. I now check the ingredients of everything that I drink and eat.
